Commodore

The Officers and members of the Boat Club want to extend our deepest sympathies to our Vice Commodore, Fran Williams, and his family on the loss of his son Eddie.  He fought a hard fight but in the end  the cancer won out.  He will be missed by all of his friends and family.

We had a productive Executive Board meeting and will be bringing some ideas to the membership for increasing revenue at the club.  Unfortunately, the economy is hitting everyone and we need to devise ways that will help the club survive.

I will be away in February on a fishing vacation along with several other members and officers.  In my absence, Vice Commodore, Fran Williams, will be at the helm.  Please give him your full cooperation.

Try to attend some of the upcoming events. The Super Bowl party will be over before this newsletter gets out but I’m sure everyone will have had a great time.    Another event in February is the chili contest.  Bring your best pot of chili to the competition,.  If you can’t make chili come out and taste it and vote for you favorite. It’s a very inexpensive afternoon of fun.

I willl see you end of February with some fishing stories.

Vice Commodore

Myself and my family would like to thank all the members of the boat Club and our friends from the surrounding areas for their love, prayers and support during this difficult time.

The number of people who attended the services, while standing in the bitter cold for such a long time was overwhelming.  Many tears were shed, but also some laughter as various stories of the funny things that had happened over the years.

We thank you from the bottoms of our hearts for all that you have done for us and continue to, in offering your support to us.

               Fran Williams
               Vice Commodore

Rear Commodore

I want to personally send mine and Jen’s condolences to Fran and his family on their loss.

At our Executive Board meeting we issued a 30 day suspension letter to a member for being in the club past the 2 am closing time. This will not be tolerated by anyone and action will be taken.  We will not take any chances with our license.

Bar Chairman

I reported to the Executive Board on the status of price increases over the past 4 years.  We have not had a price increase since 2004 and the Club cannot continue to absorb the increases.

We will be instituting a 25 cent increase across the board starting March 1st.

Thanks again to all who helped but especially to Kyle and Annie.

Installation of Officers

The 2008 Officers were sworn in at the January 14th general membership meeting.

We want to thank member and
National Park Mayor, Patty Koloski, for performing the Oaths of Office.

We normally do this at our Installation Officers Dinner, but this event has been switched to March 8th due to the Commodore being away in February.

We will still have our Officers dinner and do the presentation of outgoing officer awards and presentation of our Princess.

To The Williams Family,

Eddie was a past member and the son of our Vice Commodore and brother to Bill, also a member.  He has brothers Mike (a past member), Bobby and sister Kate.   They are a close knit family with many friends that will sadly miss him.   There is a poem called “The Dash” that relates on how important the dash is between the years listed on a headstone.  The dash is what people remember about you and what you do with your life.  Eddie did so much with his dash that everyone only has fond and loving memories of him.

He always had a smile and a joke ready.  He lit up any room he entered.  His viewing was a true testament of his life.  The line was long from the beginning to end and there were no complaints about being in the cold or the wait.

So Eddie. We wish you good fishing and sunny skies until we meet again.

               Love Ya,
               Your Friends
