Commodore

I want to thank our Vice-Commodore, Fran Williams, for handling everything while I was in Florida during the month of February,

Due to the date change we didn’t have as many people at out Officers Dinner, but for those that attended, we had a great night.  The MC of the event, our own, Fran Williams, handled the comic relief with flying colors.  He had everyone in stitches.  Thanks Fran.

We voted into permanent membership two probationary members at our March meeting.  Congratulations to Ken Lee and Tom Thomasson.

Our Dock Master will be having the docks installed this month.  Another boating season is fast approaching.

Our Opening Day is being planned by our Fleet Captain.  There are raffle tickets available for the 120-qt. cooler of cheer and Digital Camera package.  See Frankie for tickets.

We hope to see many of our members attend our Opening Day.  Come out and support your Club.

Vice Commodore

Thanks for all the help from the Officer’s Dinner Committee.  The food was outstanding and there was more than enough along with many appetizers and desserts.

I know there were conflicting schedules for other dinners due to our date change but thanks to everyone that came out.  We had a great time.

Congratulations to two probationary members, Ken Lee and Tom Thomasson, who were voted into full membership.

Remember that unless you have letters from your employers that you work every Monday night, you are not excused from making the four  required meetings to keep your membership.  Ay questions, please see me.

St. Patty's Day Party

Our Friday night, St. Patty’s Party  had a good turnout.

The ham, cabbage, corned beef, and potatoes were excellent.  Good job by  Michelle’s committee of cooks.

Our resident mayoral Leprechaun was in rare form with her group celebrating her birthday.  Her weekend outfits were something to behold. How is the ear
doing, Patty.???

Easter Egg Hunt

Saturday, March 22nd will be our annual Easter Egg Hunt.  Children of members up to and including 8 years of age are welcome to attend.  A lunch will be served after the egg hunt and prior to handing out the prizes.  Anyone who can bring a sweet treat, it would be welcome. (cupcakes, cookies, etc.)

We will be making up the baskets, and filling eggs on Thursday, March 20th starting at 6 pm. If you want to help, please stop down.

Starting time is 11 am sharp.  Please do not be late  as it takes a short time for the children to find the eggs.  We would not want your child to miss out due to being late.

Bring your camera for pictures of you child with the Easter Bunny.

Chili Contest

Congratulations to Rex from River Winds Y.C. for winning 1st place in our annual chili contest.  Second place was won by Ken Lee and third place by Kyle Bradford.  We had 12 contestants this year and everyone enjoyed their chili.

There was also a salad bar with  Italian bread and various dressings and condiments.

Thanks Cass for doing a great job.

Opening Day

Our Opening Day will be held on Saturday, April 26th, from 12 noon to 8:00 pm.  Ticket prices are $15.00/pp and $25.00/per couple.  The ticket includes draft beer, draft soda, food and music.  Any Commodore dressed in white as well as their Princess is admitted free.  We are contemplating admitting any officer in whites free. This will be discussed at the next Executive Board meeting.  Anyone who wishes to travel by boat should contact the Club’ Dock Master so that arrangements can be made in advance for docking spaces.

The flag raising ceremony will begin at 2:00 pm.  The Army Navy Garrison color guard will once again present the colors along with our bagpiper, Dutch Campbell.  There will also be a laying of the wreath in memory of our deceased members.

We will be raffling off a 120-qt. cooler of cheer that includes snacks, booze, and a digital camera with a memory card and printer.  Tickets are $5.00 each or 5 for $20.00.  We will also run a 50/50.

There is a sign  up sheet on the cold box door for help with setup/cleanup, preparing of salads, cooks, bartenders, etc.  I encourage the members to volunteer some of their time to help out and participate to make this a fun and successful event.

Come out and enjoy a day of fun and celebrate the beginning of a new boating season.

Congratulations

Congratulations to our Princess Anna on another musical selection and also for being accepted into Westminster Choir College.

Congratulations also to Jimmy Deacon, son of member Cheryl Deacon, for being selected for the choir.

Congratulations to our own Denise Santry for being selected at the DRYL Member of the Year.  Check out the DRYL website at www.dryl.org and see her picture accepted her award.  Thanks Cass for once again getting us all there and home again safe and sound.

Our Club was also given a plaque for having the most members at the banquet. (we had 41).  Thank you to all the members who were able to attend to honor Denise.  I’m still not sure how so many people were able to keep the secret from her.  To see her expression when her name was read was a true Kodak moment.
